Driven by the pure act of painting, I leave in secondary place the represented motif; thus, with colour, mark and facture, my paintings say what is needed in the painting process. This knowledge is pursued after the space of “Not Knowing”, in which I allow myself to explore the qualities of the medium and procedures of painting in a very pure way. I use “not knowing rules” that play a key role on the decision making strategies in which I choose to follow intuition instead of logic, embracing chance and privileging sense over intellect. My work draws on theories on transitional phenomena with a view to potentially understanding the directions taken by the painter in the act of painting.
My works are a product of an ongoing investigation into the medium of painting itself, and the nature of an uncontrollable automatism of unconscious elements that swarm indecisively in each thought. Therefore, my work is essentially painting about painting.
